Manuel de Olaso

MUSICAL DIRECTION

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the CEAMC - the Center for Advanced
Studies in Contemporary Music. He studied piano under Agustina Herrera, Carmen

Baliero, Haydée Schvartz and Fernando Pérez, harpsichord under Jorge Lavista and
María de Lourdes Cútolo and composition under Coriún Aharonián.
He is the harpsichordist in the following groups: Estación Buenos Aires (Directed by
Maestro Rafael Gíntoli), Compañía de las Luces (Directed by Maestro Marcelo
Birman), Compañía del Tempranillo (Directed by Maestro Miguel de Olaso),
Ensamble Instrumentarium (Brasil, Directed by Maestro), many of which he has
also recorded with. He directed Cavalli’s “La Calisto” at the Ópera Estudio in the Teatro Argentino of La Plata. He worked as assistant director and harpsichordist for Maestro Juan Manuel Quintana in the following operas: Agrippina, Händel’s Rodelinda, Monteverdi’s L ́incoronazione di Poppea and Il Ritorno de Ulisse in Patria (Buenos Aires Lírica company).
As a soloist, he has performed with the following groups: Camerata Bariloche,
Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra),
Orquesta Barroca del Suquía (directed by Manfredo Kraemer), Orquesta Sinfónica
de Canal 7 (Channel 7 Symphonic Orchestra), Orquesta de Cámara de Rosario
(Rosario City Chamber Orchestra), Orquesta de Cámara Mayo (Mayo Chamber
Orchestra), Compañía Oblicua, Coro y Orquesta de la Universidad de Buenos Aires
(Choir and Orchestra of the University of Buenos Aires), Grupo de Canto Coral,
Ensemble musikFabrik (Germany), Camerata Antiqua (Curitiba, Brazil), Orquesta
Barroca NuevoMundo (NuevoMundo Baroque Orchestra), Opera2Day Orchestra
(Netherlands), Camerata (Chile), among others.
He is frequently called upon as a specialist in baroque and classical opera, oratorio
and chamber music.
He has performed in Argentina (Colón Theater, Teatro Argentino of La Plata, San
Martín Theater, CETC - Center for Experimentation of the Colón Theater, Avenida
Theater, etc.), Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, France and the Netherlands.
He teaches privately and at the Early Music Program within the Manuel de Falla
Superior Conservatoire of Music. He has taught courses at the Bariloche Music
Camp, at the Centro de Conocimiento in Misiones Province, Musicarte, Recitatus Art
Center (Brazil), etc.
